In Spring quarter, we are offering a special topics course that is open to graduate and undergraduate students: Writing Persuasion: Health and Environment (English 12704/32704; ENST 12704) -- Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:30-5:50pm. In this writing-intensive course, Senior Associate Director Tracy Weiner explores persuasive writing techniques that seek to influence opinions and attempt to change behaviors.
Half of the assignments will analyze rhetorical techniques used the readings; in the other half, students will put these techniques into practice in their own essays. Over the course of the quarter, each student will develop a portfolio of pieces on an environmental or health topic of their choice.
